We look forward to welcoming you to our church in the beautiful
Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
FNLC is a relatively young church founded through a group of friends desiring a church restored to New Testament shape, serving and reaching out primarily, though not exclusively, to the north of the Forest of Dean. The small group that met for prayer, worship, teaching, fellowship and for breaking of bread, soon needed a more recognised leadership, so elders were appointed. In December 2008, Ken and Sue Matthews returned from doing mission work in north Uganda to join that leadership team, bringing with them a vision to build the church in the Forest of Dean.
In the latter part of 2012, Ken and Sue shared with the fellowship that they believed the Lord was calling them to return to ministry in Africa. In January 2013 a new leadership team was commissioned and in July 2013 Rev. Mark Baker was asked to help lead the church into the next step of our journey.
On Easter Sunday 2015 the Church was renamed Forest New Life Church, reflecting our mission to communicate the hope that comes through living a life under the Lordship of Jesus. In December 2017 we moved to Parkend Baptist Church where we meet on Sunday Mornings inat 10.30am (see banner outside the Church). In the week we get together for prayer, small groups, Bible study, children & youth meetings at various locations.
In September 2019 Mark Baker stepped down from the leadership to become the International Director for Focus on Israel, and the batton has now passed on to Jonathan Kear, who hails from the Forest and has a great reputation as a families and youth minister within the area.
